What You Can Do
- Schedule a free home energy audit.
- Get a free Electric Coach from Go Electric Colorado for expert advice for electrification of your home.
- Become a Climate CitiSun through New Energy Colorado.
- Use Project Sunroof to estimate the amount of energy you can save through solar panels.
- Install solar panels.
- Install a heat pump system for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and/or water heating.
- Buy ENERGY STAR energy efficient products.
- Buy and install LED lighting.
- Change your HVAC Filter each month.
- Check out energy saving tips from Xcel Energy or do-it-yourself energy saving projects from the U.S. Department of Energy.
- Use Xcel Energy’s Rebates and Savings programs, the State of Colorado’s Home Energy Rebate Program to help pay for energy efficiency upgrades.

What the City is Doing
One of the Guiding Principles in Lakewood’s Comprehensive Plan (Envision Lakewood 2040) is Sustainability and Climate Action.
Lakewood’s 2040 Targets to support this Guiding Principle include:
- Reduce energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by a minimum of 80.4% below 2018 levels.
- Expand equitable access to clean air, water, and renewable energy.
