Emergency Preparedness Workshop
Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 05:30 PM to 07:30 PM

Join Lakewood’s Sustainable Neighborhoods (including South of 6th!), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and Lakewood’s Sustainability Division for an introductory workshop on planning for emergency preparedness at home. Disasters like heavy snow, wildfire, floods, and power outages can make us feel unsafe and a lack of control. Learn how to prepare for these events ahead of time to increase personal resilience when they do happen.
This workshop will feature speaker Rich Poulter, Lakewood’s CERT program manager, to share an overview of the types of emergencies we experience in Colorado, home safety tips, what to do in the event of an evacuation, how to pack an emergency preparedness kit or “go-bag,” and where to find additional resources. Bring your questions and topic suggestions for future emergency preparedness workshops.
A light dinner and kids’ activities will be provided.
